Il documento politico “Obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile e migrazione” si basa sui risultati del rapporto “La migrazione come elemento fondamentale dello sviluppo sostenibile” e discute le misure che la Grecia ha adottato per raggiungere gli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (SDG) nel quadro dell’Agenda ONU 2030 con riferimento al fenomeno migratorio. Entrambi i documenti sono stati realizzati nel quadro del progetto Volti delle Migrazioni.

Tutte le società moderne dal 2015, anno di adozione degli SDG, hanno un obiettivo comune: attuare i 17 obiettivi dello sviluppo sostenibile e raggiungere risultati ottimali entro il 2030, attuando il principio del “non lasciare nessuno indietro”. La Grecia ha effettuato un processo di mappatura del contesto nel 2017 e ha fissato 8 priorità nazionali. Le priorità d’azione fondamentali per i prossimi anni sono la mitigazione della povertà e delle disuguaglianze, al fine di raggiungere una crescita economica innovativa e sostenibile, combinata con istituzioni forti e trasparenti.

Nonostante la Grecia sia sempre stata un Paese di accoglienza delle migrazioni per la sua posizione geografica, non ha mai investito nella preparazione e adozione di concrete politiche di inclusione della immigrazione nella società. L’aumento del numero di arrivi dal 2015, ha reso questa esigenza ancora più forte in quanto l’integrazione nella società greca è rimasta debole. Ciò che occorre è l’adattamento della strategia nazionale greca e un piano con una direzione strategica che tenga conto sia delle caratteristiche particolari della società greca sia delle esigenze delle popolazioni che essa dovrebbe integrare.

Sustainable Development Goals and Migration in Greece

The policy paper “Sustainable Development Goals and Migration” is based on the findings of the report “Migration as a basic element of sustainable development” and presents the steps Greece has taken in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the UN 2030 Agenda framework.

All modern societies since 2015, when SDGs were adopted, have a common target: to implement the 17 goals, to achieve optimum results by 2030 and to “Leave no one behind”. Greece carried out a mapping process in 2017 and set 8 national priorities. The basic action priorities for the next years, was the mitigation of poverty and inequalities, in order to achieve innovative and sustainable economic growth, combined with strong and transparent institutions.

Despite the fact that Greece has always been a reception country because of its geographical position, it has never invested in the formation and adoption of concrete immigration policies in the Greek society. The increased number of arrivals since 2015, made this need even stronger as the integration in the Greek society, remained weak. What is required, is the adaption of the Greek national strategy and a plan with a strategic direction that will take into account both the particular characteristics of Greek society and the needs of the populations that it should integrate.
